TAJ MAHAL

The Taj Mahal is a mausoleum located in Agra, India, which was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal. The white marble mausoleum is considered to be the jewel of Muslim art in India and is one of the universally recognized masterpieces of the world's architectural heritage.

India is regarded as one of the world's most famous monuments and is perhaps the finest example of Mughal architecture, it is also regarded as one of the world's most famous monuments. Erected by Emperor Shah Jahn (reigned 1628–58) to honor his wife Mumtz Mahal (“Chosen One of the Palace”), who died in 1631 and gave birth to their 14th child.The complex, which includes an expansive garden with a reflecting pool, took about 22 years and 20,000 workers to complete. Semi preciousstones in geometric and floral patterns are included in the mausoleum's white marble. Its majestic central dome is surrounded by four smaller domes.

Apparently, Shah Jahn wanted to have his own mausoleum made out of black marble, according to some sources.He was deposed by one of his sons before any work began.
